The audio work originated within the context of an exhibition “Subduktive Massnahmen”/ “Swallowed Arrangements“ organized for Haager convention’s 50th anniversary, a convention to save objects of cultural value during so-called times of peace. Fifty artists were invited to produce an artwork. The venue for each work was a stainless steel bin, that was later shown in a Museum and afterwards placed in a disused, abandoned mine for the next 1500 years. During the exhibition the bin was closed and the visitors could only find out about the content from one sentence each artist wrote in a book, published to describe his or her work. I published a telephone number.

If you called 0180 - 368 43 99 459 you could listen to a sound montage, based on an altered idea of how war or peace is led and defined today, fifty years after the beginning of the Haager convention - and what that means for us. The project attempts to ascertain the relationship between the production of social and aesthetic moments, the monopolization of voilence from the nation state, the completed commingling of peace and war, and that war and not peace is the only regulaing moment in the world and that refugees and camps have become "normal" to us.
